We have one volunteer, Sue Calef ,and her “Doggone Production Team” that do videos of some of the dogs that have been at the shelter for a while, or who don’t show well in the kennels, but when they are out of them have great personalities. Showing off a dog goofing around, playing and enjoying people helps others see how the dog REALLY interacts. Many dogs are stressed in the kennels and even going into a get acquainted room won’t distract them enough to showcase their best qualities to a potential adopter. But if they’re out playing and acting like a dog—people get to see them in a more natural environment. Before we had the new software those videos would be embedded into the dog’s profile on our website and also shared on facebook and social media. Now they are also displayed on TVs in the “nook” right outside of the adoption kennels, and on the side of the cattery. As folks come to the shelter to look at potential pets, or as they wait to meet animals, they might be interested in one of the featured pets, and we might just fine a home for someone who has been looking for a very long time.
New Digital Adoption Guide at Nebraska Humane Society
I love the idea and know how some dogs just don’t show well in the runs… I also know it’s a sort of “highlight reel” featuring the dogs doing what you can expect them to do when they are out and about. This is the extent of my knowledge… I didn’t see anything on the Facebook page about it either.
Can someone give me a rundown of the purpose, aim, idea behind, etc. the Digital Adoption Guide (if that’s what it’s called)? I’ll write something up to let readers know to look for and consult it when visiting the shelter!
